Emerson shoots the lights out to top basketball

BOSTON -- Bri Frongillo shot 12-for-12 from the field, including 4-for-4 from three-point land, and Emerson College shot 55.7 percent for the game as the host Lions defeated the Mount Holyoke College basketball team 84-33 in a NEWMAC game Saturday in Brown and Plofker Gym.

Frongillo finished with 28 points along with five steals and four assists, and Ella Bushee added 10 points for Emerson (12-9, 3-4 NEWMAC), which made 13-of-23 shots from beyond the arc in the game.

Sophomore Libby Harris (Foxborough, Mass.) led Mount Holyoke with eight points, including two 3-pointers, while first-year Emma Goff (Cohasset, Mass.) added five points, three steals and a game-high 11 rebounds.

Mount Holyoke was held to three points and zero field goals in the opening quarter as Emerson established a 23-3 lead after one period. The Lyons were limited to 17.0% shooting from the field for the game.

Mount Holyoke (2-19, 0-7 NEWMAC) continues NEWMAC play at Smith College on Wednesday at 7pm.
