NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Emma Goff had game highs of 11 points and 15 rebounds to lead a strong effort by a pair of Mount Holyoke College basketball rookies, in the Lyons' 75-33 non-conference loss at Connecticut College on Saturday afternoon.

Goff (Cohasset, Mass.) registered her second double-double of the season and now ranks sixth in the NEWMAC in rebounding with an average of 8.6 boards per game.

Sophomore center Taryn White (Alexandria, Va.) grabbed seven more boards as Mount Holyoke tied Connecticut College in rebounding at 36 boards apiece, interrupting the Lyons' streak of eight straight games with the rebounding advantage. White is 15th in the NEWMAC in rebounding with 6.7 per game.

The host Camels (4-7) never trailed in the game, yielding only a 2-2 tie on a jumper by senior Teal Howle (Florence, S.C.) in the opening minute. They made their first nine field goal attempts and built a 26-6 advantage after one quarter.

Conn had 12 players score, with Mia Xerras and Catherine Cole leading the way with nine points each.

Goff's fellow rookie Hannah Goen (New London, N.H.) played a season-high 29 points and did a creditable job in helping direct the Lyons' offense while scoring five points and adding three rebounds.

Howle tallied three assists, and ranks first on the Lyons and 13th in the conference with 3.2 per game.

Mount Holyoke (1-9) returns to action with a non-league game on Tuesday, Jan. 2 at Bard College, with a 6pm tipoff.
