SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- The Mount Holyoke College basketball team ran into one of its best opponents of the season Thursday night in SUNY Cobleskill, who rose to 11-1 with a complete performance in a 81-38 non-conference victory over the Lyons in Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium.

The visiting Fighting Tigers (11-1) became only the second team this season to outrebound the Lyons (1-11), controlling the glass by a 55-37 margin while committing only six turnovers for the game. Cobleskill shot .405 (32-79) from the field and held Mount Holyoke to a .283 (15-53) field goal percentage.

Logan Thayne had 20 points and 12 rebounds, including seven on the offensive glass, to lead the Fighting Tigers. Cara Walker scored 18 points and Taylor Meacham and Antonia May added 12 apiece, with Meacham contributing nine rebounds and a game-high four assists and three steals.

Sophomore Taryn White (Alexandria, Va.) had her second double-double in a row, and the second of her career, scoring a team-high 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds for Mount Holyoke. Sophomore Libby Harris (Foxborough, Mass.) added 10 points.

Meacham set up Thayne down low for the first basket of the game, and Cobleskill never relinquished its lead. May knocked down 3-of-4 shots from three-point territory en route to 11 points in the period, helping to stake the visitors to a 23-7 lead after one quarter.

Cobleskill extended its lead to 43-16 at the half before Mount Holyoke turned in a strong third quarter, scoring 18 points. Cobleskill still extended its lead with 23 points in the period, with Sierra Goodson draining both of her three-point attempts and Walker pouring in eight points for the period.

For Mount Holyoke, seven players scored in the third quarter, including five points by Harris and one bucket apiece off the bench from senior Nicole Lutalo (Kampala, Uganda), sophomore Kendall Maurer (Orinda, Calif.), and first-year Eva Taberski (Wynnewood, Pa.).

Cobleskill didn't let up its intensity in the fourth quarter, and held Mount Holyoke to four points on 2-12 shooting from the field in the period.

Senior Teal Howle (Florence, S.C.) and first-year Emma Goff (Cohasset, Mass.) both grabbed six rebounds and dished out three assists, with Goff adding a game- and season-high four blocked shots.

Mount Holyoke will next host Lesley University on Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 6pm.
