PURCHASE, N.Y. -- Sophomore Anna Induni scored in the seventh minute, and the Mount Holyoke College field hockey team held Manhattanville College without a shot on goal in a 1-0 non-conference victory on Wednesday night, in the first-ever meeting between the teams.

Induni (Manchester, N.H.) scored her second goal of the season unassisted off of starting goalie Lidia Vasquez-Sinisi with 8:23 to go in the first quarter of the game.

The host Valiants (1-5) were held to two shots in the game, one late in the first quarter by Shannon Keena that was blocked, and the second late in the second quarter by Felicity Williams that went wide of the goal.

Mount Holyoke (5-3, 0-1 NEWMAC) earned a 14-2 advantage in shots and a 14-3 edge in penalty corners.

Lyons junior goalkeeper Rachel Katzenberg (Reisterstown, Md.) got the shutout without the benefit of a save, but Manhattanville goalie Cat Morgan turned away 10 shots by the Lyons after relieving Vasquez-Sinisi for the game's final 45 minutes.

Mount Holyoke returns to conference play on Friday at 7pm at Wellesley College.
