SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- Jayonna Montigny scored two goals and added two assists, while Laurissa Montigny also scored twice as the Mount Holyoke College field hockey team defeated Gordon College 5-0 on Tuesday night.

The Lyons (3-2) outshot the Fighting Scots (0-3) by a 17-1 margin and had a 4-0 advantage in penalty corners for the game. Mount Holyoke is 5-0 all-time against Gordon, including an 8-0 road win last season.

Jayonna Montigny put Mount Holyoke into the lead just 83 seconds into the game. After Laurissa Montigny's shot was deflected away by Gordon goalie Allyson Stauffer, first-year Mackenzie Hillman (Newington, Conn.) collected the rebound and tapped a short pass to Jayonna Montigny for the score from short range.

Jayonna Montigny then gave Mount Holyoke a 2-0 lead just four minutes into the contest. Sophomore Anna Induni (Manchester, N.H.) flipped an entry ball by Laurissa Montigny over Stauffer's stick, and Jayonna Montigny again was in position to score on an unguarded net, giving her five goals on the season.

The Fighting Scots then settled play, keeping the Lyons within a pair of goals past halftime. But in the 38th minute, Laurissa Montigny connected on an outside shot from the wing, taking the insertion pass from her sister on a Lyons penalty corner and unleashing a hard shot that got through a Gordon defender and Stauffer for a 3-0 Mount Holyoke lead.

Induni tallied her first goal of the season in the 43rd minute, as Jayonna Montigny passed to an open Induni to finish a quick fast break.

Mount Holyoke was awarded a penalty stroke in the 47th minute, and Laurissa Montigny buried it, tying Jayonna Montigny for the team lead with her fifth goal of the season.

Gordon put its first shot on net in the fourth quarter, as Mount Holyoke first-year goalie Ainsley Gruener (Topsfield, Mass.) turned away a shot by Elle Gonyer.

Gruener combined with starting junior goalie Rachel Katzenberg (Reisterstown, Md.) and senior Leah Manning (Durham, N.H.) on the Lyons' second straight shutout.

Mount Holyoke next plays at Eastern Connecticut State on Thursday at 6pm. Gordon plays its conference opener Saturday at 6pm at Western New England University.
