WILLIMANTIC, Conn. -- The Mount Holyoke College field hockey team overcame a 2-1 halftime deficit to win 3-2 at Eastern Connecticut State University on Thursday, the Lyons' third straight victory.

Junior defender Sophia Guziewicz (Enfield, N.H.) scored the go-ahead goal on a penalty corner with 13:44 left in the fourth quarter and senior goalkeeper Leah Manning (Durham, N.H.) made two saves down the stretch to preserve the lead.

Senior midfielder Laurissa Montigny (Enfield, Conn.) assisted Guziewicz on the goal, after she tied the game at 2-2 midway through the third quarter on a penalty stroke, her team-high sixth goal this season.

Mount Holyoke twice erased one-goal leads by the host Warriors (1-3-1), beginning with first-year Mackenzie Hillman's (Newington, Conn.) first goal of the season, with an assist from first-year Emily Bisson (Manchester, N.H.).

Laurissa Montigny leads the NEWMAC in goals (6) and points (13) and is tied for fourth in goals per game (1.00) -- while also leading the conference in defensive saves (2).

Mount Holyoke outshot Eastern Connecticut State by a 16-7 margin in the game, and held a slight 8-7 edge in penalty corners.

Manning made four saves in 38 minutes of action on goal for the Lyons. Junior Rachel Katzenberg (Reisterstown, Md.) played the first 22 minutes in goal and made one save. ECSU's Hannah Jalowiec made nine saves in the loss.

Mount Holyoke opens NEWMAC play at WPI on Saturday at 11am.
