WORCESTER, Mass. -- Abigail Rauch and Emily Sollecito had a goal and an assist each to lead WPI to a 4-0 victory over the Mount Holyoke College field hockey team on Saturday, in the NEWMAC opener for both teams.

The host Engineers (1-5, 1-0 NEWMAC) attempted 25 of the game's 26 shots and were awarded all 20 penalty corners on the day.

Junior forward Jayonna Montigny (Enfield, Conn.) attempted the lone shot for the visiting Lyons (4-3, 0-1 NEWMAC), who saw their three-game winning streak come to an end.

In the 20th minute of play, Eve Martineau sent the ball right at the cage, where Rauch knocked it into goal off the tip of her stick.

Three minutes after halftime, Sollecito inserted the ball into play off a penalty corner that was stick-stopped by Arie Lang, who blasted a powerful shot in goal. In the waning moments of the third quarter, Rauch recovered a loose ball off Mount Holyoke junior goalkeeper Rachel Katzenberg's (Reisterstown, Md.) kneepads after a scramble around the goal, and fed Sollecito who quickly put it in.

Eliza Dutson earned her second goal of the season with a shot in the middle of the circle following a pass from Maggie Usdan 5:26 into the fourth frame.

Katzenberg reached double digits in saves for the Lyons with 11 stops.

Mount Holyoke returns to non-conference play for its next contest, traveling to Purchase, N.Y., to square off with Manhattanville College on Wednesday at 5pm.
