WATERVILLE, Maine -- Junior Jayonna Montigny scored twice as the Mount Holyoke College field hockey team outscored UMaine-Farmington 3-0 in the third quarter en route to a 4-0 victory on Sunday afternoon at Thomas College's Bernatchez Field.

The Lyons (2-2) took a 1-0 lead into halftime thanks to a goal in the 10th minute scored by first-year Ashley Scott (South Hadley, Mass.), with an assist from fellow rookie Emily Bisson (Manchester, N.H.), marking the first career points for both players.

Despite a 17-1 disadvantage in shots attempted in the first half, the Beavers held to a one-goal deficit until a penalty corner in the 33rd minute, when Jayonna Montigny (Enfield, Conn.) scored on an assist from sophomore Anna Induni (Manchester, N.H.), following an insertion pass from Montigny.

Minutes later, senior Laurissa Montigny (Enfield, Conn.) scored for the third time in four games this season, with another assist from Induni, also on a penalty corner starting with Jayonna Montigny

Mount Holyoke wasn't done -- outshooting UMF 14-0 in the third quarter and earning a 6-0 edge in corners -- and neither was Jayonna Montigny, who tallied her third goal of the season unassisted with 2:24 left in the third, to re-tie her sister for the team scoring lead.

Mount Holyoke outshot UMF 33-3 overall, including a 31-1 difference through the first three quarters. The Lyons also had a 16-5 advantage in corners (14-2 through three quarters).

Junior Rachel Katzenberg (Reisterstown, Md.) started in goal for Mount Holyoke and played the first half, making one save. Senior Leah Manning (Durham, N.H.) played a shutout third quarter, and first-years Ainsley Gruener (Topsfield, Mass.) and Syd Baker (Needham, Mass.) split the fourth quarter in goal.

In addition to her scoring, Laurissa Montigny notched a defensive save for the second straight game.

Mount Holyoke will host Gordon College on Tuesday at 6pm.
