MIT 3, Mount Holyoke 0 -- Game One

Mount Holyoke dropped a three-set decision to MIT in the Lyons' second New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play as the Enginners prevailed by the set scores of 25-11, 25-15, 25-10. Marion Abeja (Kumi, Uganda) led Mount Holyoke with three kills in the setback.

The Lyons came out strong, trading points with the hosts, before a 10-1 run from the Engineers made it 17-9. From there, MIT used six-consecutive points to take a 22-9 lead before Amanda Webb finished off the frame with a kill.

Mount Holyoke once again hung with MIT in the second set but another run, this time a 8-0 run in the middle of the frame gave the Engineers an 18-9 advantage. From there, Gabi Davis (Keller, Texas) and Willet Parkins (Norwich, Vt.) added kills, but the hosts went on to win the frame 25-15.

Abeja would add a pair of kills in the third set but the Lyons eventually dropped a 25-10 decision and MIT prevailed in three sets.

Salve Regina 3, Mount Holyoke 0 -- Game Two

Senior right side Gabi Davis (Keller, Texas) posted a team-best five kills and setter Brayden Walden (McKinney, Texas) handed out 13 assists but the Lyons fell to Salve Regina, 3-0, in the second of two matches for Mount Holyoke on Saturday.

The Lyons fell by the set scores of 14-25, 10-25, 19-25.

Despite an early kill from Davis and a service ace form McKenna Crosby (Jonesborough, Tenn.), Salve Regina took an early 8-3 lead in the first set before Sarah Bishop (Rutland, Mass.) ended the run with a kill of her own. In the middle of the frame, the Seahawks used a 7-0 run to take an 18-5 lead before Crosby ended that run with a kill. Willet Parkins (Norwich, Vt.) picked up a kill late in the frame but back-to-back kills from Nicole Karabaich and Sydney Ramsey gave Salve a 1-0 match lead.

Davis, Walden, Marion Abeja (Kumi, Uganda) and Crosby all gathered kills in the early goings of the second set but a 10-1 run in the middle of the frame proved costly for Mount Holyoke as the Seahawks took a 21-8 lead in the stanza. From there, Madison Lee and Mia Lang finished off the 25-10 set victory with consecutive kills.

The two sides traded points in the third set before a 4-0 run allowed Salve to take a 10-8 lead. After a pair of attack errors made it an 11-11 game, the Seahawks rattled off nine-straight points to take a 20-11 advantage. A service ace from Lee then forced match point before Lang finished off the match with a kill.
