Wellesley Shuts Down Volleyball, 3-0

WELLESLEY, Mass. (Sept. 15, 2009) – The Wellesley College women’s volleyball team sprinted to a 3-0 (25-13, 25-8, 25-7) triumph over Mount Holyoke College this evening at the Keohane Sports Center. It was the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) season opener for both squads and marked the 22nd straight time that the Blue (3-2, 1-0 NEWMAC) have defeated the Lyons.

Leading the way for Mount Holyoke was junior outside hitter Rosa Marruffo, who finished with two kills and five digs. First year defensive specialist Sorcha Grogan recorded a pair of service aces, while junior setter Kateryna Kuc added nine assists.

Mount Holyoke (1-2, 0-1 NEWMAC) is slated to kick off its home slate on Thursday against non-conference foe Bay Path College at 7:00 p.m.
