SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Led by double-figure efforts from four different players, Babson College defeated Mount Holyoke College, 108-32 in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Saturday. Babson improves to 15-3 overall and 9-0 in conference, while the Lyons are now 2-14 overall and 0-9 in NEWMAC play.

For the Beavers, senior captain Giovanna Pickering (Hull, Mass./Phillips Andover Academy) led with a game-high 11 points to go along with three rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Classmate and captain Taylor Russell (Braintree, Mass./Braintree) also had a big game, notching 10 points and six boards. Junior guard Hannah Metcalf (Middlebury, Conn./Pomperaug Regional) and first year Emily Bonifacic (Allendale, N.J./Northern Highlands Regional) each scored 10 off the bench. Bonifacic also grabbed 10 rebounds to complete a double-double.

The Lyons were paced by first year guard Kathryn Violette (Yokosuka City, Japan/Yokohama International school), who scored a game-high 11 points, while senior captain and forward Xajaah Williams-Flores (Bronx, N.Y./Holderness School) had a near double-double with eight points and a game-best 11 boards. Junior guard Genesis DiCarlo (Sullivan, Maine/Sumner Memorial) had a productive game as well, posting seven points, four rebounds, three assists, and a block.

In the first quarter, junior forward Brenna LeGacy (Attleboro, Mass.Bishop Feehan) scored the first bucket in the opening minute of the game, but Williams-Flores countered on the next possession with a jumper of her own to tie the game, 2-2. The Beavers grabbed hold of momentum and went on an 8-0 run before DiCarlo connected from downtown at the 5:40 mark to cut the deficit to 10-5. Babson jumped out to another 18-6 run to end the first quarter with a 28-11 lead.

The Beavers scored two layups to begin the second frame, but MHC battled back with a quick 4-0 run after layups from DiCarlo and Williams-Flores. Babson recovered with two consecutive treys to bump the lead up to 38-15 at the 6:14 mark. Violette began to heat up, scoring seven of her 11 points in the last 3:50 of the half, but Bonifacic knocked down a jumper with :05 seconds on the clock to send the Beavers into the half up, 54-22.

Babson had a big third quarter led by eight points from Metcalf, and seven points from Pickering. The Beavers scored eight unanswered points in the last minute of the stanza to extend the lead to 87-23 heading into the final period.

First year guard Katlyn Grover (Bernardston, Mass./Stoneleigh Burnham School) opened up scoring for the Lyons in the fourth with a three-pointer, followed by a layup from Williams-Flores to cut the lead to 93-28. Babson first year forward Jacqueline Jozefick (Milford, Conn.St. Joseph) ended the five point run with a jumper at the 5:23 mark. Violette scored four consecutive points later in the quarter, but the Lyons still came up short.
