Cross Country Rounds Out 2011 Campaign at NCAA Regional Championship

BRUNSWICK, Maine. (Nov. 12, 2011) – The Mount Holyoke College cross country team rounded outs its 2011 campaign with a 27th place finish at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championship today. A total of 353 runners from 51 teams competed in the event, which took place at Bowdoin College.

The Lyons were paced by senior Felicia Cordeiro, who completed the 6,000-meter course in 23:56.90 to take 102nd place. First year Emily Baker crossed the line in 24:03.98 to collect 114th place. Meanwhile, sophomore Lucia Garcia chipped in with a 166th place performance (24:50.95).

Middlebury College claimed its second straight title with 55 points. The Panthers were followed by Williams College (60) and MIT (134) in the top three. Mount Holyoke ended the day with 770 points.

Chiara Del Piccolo of the Williams won the individual championship with a time of 20:52.43.
