Cross Country Competes in Maine Invitational

BRUNSWICK, Maine. (Sept. 17, 2011) – The Mount Holyoke College cross country team competed in the Maine Invitational this afternoon at Bowdoin College. Junior Phoebe Tengdin paced the Lyons with a 33rd place finish. She crossed the line in 23:53.24.

Tengdin was closely followed by senior Felicia Cordeiro, whose time of 24:00.42 was good for 37th place overall. Sophomore Lucia Garcia finished 64th with a time of 24:45.93. Meanwhile, first year Emily Baker chipped in with a 68th place result. She completed the 6,000-meter course in 24:52.93.

Tufts University took home top honors with a score of 49. The Jumbos ended the day in front of Colby College (57), Keene State College (60), Bowdoin (72), Bates College (115), Trinity College (184) and Mount Holyoke (195).

Keene State's Paige Mills was the top individual finisher. She posted a time of 21:45.29. A total of 131 runners took part in the event.

Mount Holyoke will return to action next Saturday at the Wesleyan University Invitational. The competition is slated to get underway at 11:00 a.m.
