Senior cross country team member Felicia Cordeiro has earned the Lyon of the Week Award for the week of September 19-25 after her outstanding performance at the Wesleyan University Invitational on Saturday.
Competing for just the second time in her career, Cordeiro crossed the line in 19:59.60 to secure sixth place overall. In the process, she became the fourth Lyon in the past five seasons to post a top 10 finish.
The senior has made an immediate impact on the cross country program since joining earlier this season. She made her collegiate debut at the Maine Invitational, grabbing 37th place with a time of 24:00.42.
Cordeiro has competed in distance events for Mount Holyoke's indoor and outdoor track and field teams for each of the past two years.
The Lyons will be off until Saturday October 8, when they compete in the New England Championship at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. The race is slated to get underway at 12:30 p.m.
