Squash Continues to Excel at DIII Nationals

BRUNSWICK, Maine - It was another successful day of action for Mount Holyoke College at the Division III Nationals. Both Lyons competitor swept through the action on Saturday at Bowdoin College, one advancing to the A draw semifinals, while the other moves into the B draw consolation finals.

Senior captain Randima Ranaweera (Colombo, Sri Lanka) was outstanding on Saturday, opening the day with a 3-0 (11-9, 11-7, 11-7) win over Williams' Caroline Sawin. That win propelled her into the quarterfinals, where she faced Bowdoin's Rachel Barnes and won by a 3-0 (11-7, 11-9, 11-7) margin.

Ranaweera will now face Middlebury's Charlotte Dewey on Sunday at 9:45am in the A draw semifinals. The winner of the match will move on to battle Middlebury's Abby Jenkins, who earned a spot in the finals by default.

In the B draw consolation, junior Samantha Rosado (Meriden, Conn.) picked up a 3-1 (11-5, 6-11, 11-5, 11-7) win over Wellesley's Gabriella Wynne. She advanced into the consolation semifinals and recorded a 3-1 victory (11-8, 9-11, 11-6, 11-9) against MIT's Sarah Fay.

Rosado will now square off against Tufts' Anne Bellinger in the B draw consolation finals on Sunday at 12pm.
