BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Lyons saw two student-athletes take to the courts on Friday afternoon, both representing Mount Holyoke College at the Division III Squash Nationals, hosted by Bowdoin College. MHC picked up a win and a loss to open play, led by senior captain Randima Ranaweera.
Ranaweera (Colombo, Sri Lanka) recorded a 3-0 (11-4, 11-2, 1-2) win against MIT's Marina Crowe in her opening match of the A draw. She will now face Williams College's Caroline Sawin on Saturday at 12:15pm.
Junior Samantha Rosado (Meriden, Conn.) was also in action, squaring off against Paige Dahlman from Tufts. She shouldered a 3-0 (11-9, 15-13, 11-7) loss in the B draw opener. Rosado moves into the consolation round and will now face Wellesley's Gabriella Wynne at 9:15am on Saturday.
