With longtime head coach Jeanne Friedman, leading the way, the Mount Holyoke crew team posted solid results in 2011-12. Leading the way were senior Carol Still and sophomore Hattie Gemerchak, who were each named to the NEWMAC All-Conference Team.

Crew Prior to the season, the program commemorated its 35th Anniversary with a two-day reunion in mid-September. Over 100 alumnae and other friends of the program made their way back to South Hadley to celebrate the team's rich history with special events both on campus and at the Community Boathouse.

The Lyons took part in three competitions during the fall. After kicking things off with a fifth place finish at the Quinsigamond Snake Regatta, Mount Holyoke's first varsity boat grabbed 13th place at the Head of the Charles Regatta for the second year in a row.

Mount Holyoke closed out the fall with a third place finish at the Seven Sisters Championship Regatta in late October. The Lyons were paced by their first varsity boat, which secured second place in its race. Seniors Hannah Blackmer and Megan Roark were joined on the All-Regatta Team by first year Pavlina Lejskova.

The team took part in six more events during the spring. Five of their competitions took place on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.
Samantha Marsden joined Still and Gemerchak as All-Conference selections with her placement on the Novice Team.

Mount Holyoke amassed 10 points to secure fifth place in the Florence Jope Smith Cup Point standings at the NEWMAC Championships. First year 

The Lyons then competed in the New England Rowing Championships and the ECAC National Invitational Collegiate Regatta to round out their 2011-12 campaign. Their varsity eight boat secured third place in the Third Level Final of its class at the New England Rowing Championships. It was the 15th best squad overall and ranked 12th among Division III competitors. As a team, the Lyons finished in 18th place overall.

One week later, Mount Holyoke wrapped things up with an 15th place showing at the ECAC Championships. Junior Clare Enright was named to the ECAC All-Conference Team as a result of her performance at the event.
