WORCESTER, Mass. (Oct. 15, 2011) – The Mount Holyoke College crew team kicked off its 2011-12 season at the Quinsigamond Snake Regatta today in Worcester, Mass. A total of five boats represented the Lyons at the competition, which took place on Lake Quinsigamond.

Mount Holyoke's first varsity boat grabbed fifth place with a time of 14:58.737. The Lyons finished 36 seconds off the pace set by Bates College. They crossed the line in front of Simmons College, the University of New Hampshire, Smith College and Colby College and were the fourth fastest Division III boat overall.

Also participating in the race were Mount Holyoke's second varsity (12^th – 15:42.376), third varsity (25^th – 16:58.224), first novice (31^st – 18:18.178) and second novice (34^th – 19:34.779) boats. A total of 36 teams took part in the competition.

The Lyons are slated to take part in the Head of the Charles Regatta next Sunday.
