BOSTON, Mass. (Oct. 23, 2011) – The Mount Holyoke College crew team participated in the 47th annual Head of the Charles Regatta today in Boson, Mass. The competition took place on the historic Charles River and featured 56 events over the course of the weekend.
For the second year in a row, Mount Holyoke's first varsity boat grabbed 13th place in the Collegiate Eights Division. The Lyons crossed the line in 18:14.98 and were the 11th fastest Division III boat overall. They finished in front of Smith College, Simmons College, Hamilton College, WPI, Tufts University and Colby College among others.
Williams College cruised to the title with a time of 16:57.50. The Ephs were followed by Bates College (17:18.5) and Grand Valley State University (17:22.2) in the top three. A total of 29 teams from around the country were included in the field.
Mount Holyoke's second varsity boat claimed 28th place with a time of 19:17.8.
The Lyons will round out their fall slate at the Seven Sisters Championship on Saturday. Smith will be hosting the annual event.
