HADLEY, Mass. (Oct. 29, 2011) – The Mount Holyoke College crew team grabbed third place today at the Seven Sisters Championship Regatta. This season's event was hosted by Smith College on the Connecticut River. Seniors Hannah Blackmer and Megan Roark represented the Lyons on the All-Regatta Team along with first year Pavlina Lejskova.
For the third year in a row and fourth time overall, Wellesley College secured top honors at the annual competition. The Blue finished with 40 points and were followed in the final standings by Simmons College (30), Mount Holyoke (22), Smith (18) and Bryn Mawr College (8). They took top honors in all four races.
Mount Holyoke's top performance of the day came from its first varsity boat, which grabbed second place in its race with a time of 18:26. The Lyons finished in front of Simmons (18:45), Smith (18:49) and Bryn Mawr (18:59). They were 44 seconds off the pace set by Wellesley (17:42).
Mount Holyoke also fared well in the first novice race, taking third place overall with a time of 20:35.
The Lyons have now completed the fall portion of their 2011-12 slate. They will resume their schedule in the spring.
