WORCESTER, Mass. (May 5, 2012) – The Mount Holyoke College crew team competed in the New England Rowing Championships today at Lake Quinsigamond. The Lyons finished in 18th place overall with 22.7 points.
Mount Holyoke's varsity eight boat took home third place in the Third Level Final of its division. The Lyons posted a time of 7:38.557, which was good for 15th place overall and 12th amongst NCAA Division III competitors. Prior to the final, they posted a fifth place time of 7:07.638 in their preliminary heat.
It was more of the same in the second varsity eight division, where Mount Holyoke finished 14th overall and 11th amongst Division III entrants. The Lyons posted a second place finish in the Third Level Final with their time of 8:00.954. They preceded that with a fifth place showing in their preliminary heat (7:43.269).
Mount Holyoke's third varsity boat finished second in the Petite Final of its division with a time of 8:00.903.
Meanwhile, the Lyons grabbed top honors in the novice four Petite Final. They topped the University of Vermont, Franklin Pierce University, the Wentworth Institute of Technology, Roger Williams University and Brandeis University with their time of 8:17.533.
Mount Holyoke is slated to take part in the ECAC Championships next Friday at Lake Quinsigamond.
