THE MATCHUP: Mount Holyoke closes out a three-match homestand versus NEWMAC foe MIT Saturday afternoon (1:00 p.m.) at the Tennis Courts. In 37 previous meetings between the programs, the Engineers own a 28-9 advantage. Last fall, they topped the Lyons by a score of 7-2. Match Program

MHC Logo THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (1-4, 0-2 NEWMAC) has dropped four straight matches after opening the season with a 9-0 triumph over Saint Joseph College. The Lyons have been paced by Maya Sayarath, who has come out on top in three of her singles matches. Sayarath is coming off a rookie campaign in which she was voted to the NEWMAC All-Conference Second Team for her outstanding play at number two doubles. Mount Holyoke has also received solid production from Sarah Moore and AnnElizabeth Konkel, who have produced two singles wins apiece. Konkel and Nahrhee Han have gone 2-2 at the number one doubles position, while Kelsey Brower and Heather Richardson have posted the same record at number three doubles. As a team, the Lyons have prevailed 10 times in singles and seven times in doubles.

Opponent Logo THE ENGINEERS: MIT (2-1, 2-0 NEWMAC) suffered a 7-2 setback to Tufts University on Thursday after opening the season with convincing victories over Smith College and Clark University. Michelle Dutt and Vynnie Kong have each posted perfect 3-0 marks to set the tone for the Engineers in singles play. Meanwhile, Juana Becerra, Julia Hsu and Anastasia Vishnevetsky have collected two wins apiece. MIT's projected doubles lineup features Vishnevetsky and Lauren Quisenberry at the top, Dutt and Hsu in the middle and Becerra and Kong at the bottom. All three tandems have come out on top twice.   

NEXT UP: Both squads will resume their NEWMAC schedules on Tuesday. Mount Holyoke is slated to visit longtime rival Smith College for a match beginning at 5:30 p.m. Meanwhile, MIT will host Babson College at 4:00 p.m.
