The Mount Holyoke squash team, led by fourth-year head coach Erin Robson, went 8-16 during the 2015-16 campaign. Leading the way were strong efforts from first year Ragini Ghose and sophomore Emily Chang, who posted 10-4 and 11-9 records, respectively.
MHC opened the season with a pair of tough losses, but rebounded with victories against Smith (9-0), Connecticut College (6-3) and Vassar (8-1) to close out December and the first semester of action. Upon returning, the Lyons faced a tough stretch of contest, opening January for a stretch in Maine.
The Lyons suffered losses to Colby, Bowdoin and Bates during their swing through Maine, returning home in mid-January to host the Pioneer Valley Invitational. Despite losses to Wesleyan, Dickinson and Hamilton to open the tournament, MHC rebounded with a 9-0 victory over Haverford.
Mount Holyoke faced another tough stretch to close out January, going 0-6 leading up to the Seven Sisters Championship at Vassar. The Lyons suffered an opening loss to Wellesley – the defending champion – but captured a 9-0 win over Smith and edged the host Brewers, 5-4, to finish as the tournament runner-up. Seniors Catherine Ryan and Annie Wong were both named to the All-Seven Sister Team for their efforts, going 2-1 on the day.
The Lyons headed into the CSA National Championships ready to go, but lost to Connecticut College in the Epps Division opener by a 6-3 margin. MHC moved into the consolation round, posting an 8-1 win over Haverford, before defeating Vassar, 7-2, to win the consolation bracket.
Sophomore Brandy Williamson headed to the CSA Individual Nationals, suffering a tough loss to a strong opponent in Brown's Quincy Beck in the opening round of the Holleran Division. Williamson went on to fall to Middlebury's Tiffany Hau in the consolation round to conclude her season.
Leading the way for MHC in 2015-16 was Ghose, who had a 10-4 record, including a 7-2 mark from the third spot on the ladder. Chang was 11-9 on the season, including 10-8 at five, while Williamson posted a 10-14 mark from the top of the ladder.
Mount Holyoke closed out the year ranked 29th in the CSA rankings. Academically, Wong and junior Allison Shilling both garnered CSA Scholar Athlete honors.
