WORCESTER, Mass. – Outstanding results prevailed once again for the Mount Holyoke College crew team, as it posted two wins and two runner-up finishes on Lake Quinsigamond on Sunday. The Lyons first varsity eight boat had an outstanding effort, winning its race over five other boats, including conference opponents Simmons and Clark.
The first varsity eight boat posted a time of 7:07.4 in the win. That mark just edged out Simmons's boat, which came in with a time of 7:07.7. MHC also eclipsed Union (7:11.1), Franklin & Marshall (7:14.7), Clark (7:30.5) and UMass-Lowell (7:50.1).
MHC's novice eight boat also came away with victory today, defeating both Clark and Union with a time of 7:12.8. In the second varsity eight race, the Lyons finished second overall with a mark of 7:28.7, while the third varsity eight boat also finished second with a time of 8:00.8.
Mount Holyoke returns to Lake Quinsigamond next weekend when it competes at the NEWMAC Championships. Action at this year's championship gets underway at 8am.
