Cross Country Finishes Sixth at Franklin Pierce Meet

RINDGE, N.H. - Junior Dana Fry finished second of 120 runners to lead the Mount Holyoke College cross country team at the 2013 Bruce Kirsh Cross Country Cup, hosted by Franklin Pierce University. Overall, the Lyons placed sixth as a team in the 10-squad field.

Fry (Avon, Conn./Miss Porter's School) posted a time of 21:56 in the 5k event. Sophomore Liz Baker (Orlando, Fla./Bishop Moore Catholic School) was second on the squad and 34th overall with a mark of 24:13, while senior Kerstin Siegburg (Reinbach, Germany/St. Joseph-Gymnasium) was 46th on the day with a time of 25:01.

Sophomore Hillary Detert (Brunswick, Maine/North Yarmouth Academy) also posted a time of 25:01, ranking 47th overall, while senior Lucia Garcia (Bakersfield, Calif./East Bakersfield) was 48th, crossing the line with a mark of 25:02.

Junior Zoe Weizenbaum (Amherst, Mass./Pioneer Valley Performing Arts) was 56th with a time of 25:23, while first years Becca Rogers (Tucson, Ariz./St. Gregory College Prepatory School) and Emma Tolerton (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) were 63rd (25:26) and 85 (27:26), respectively.

The Lyons are back in action next Saturday when they compete at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational.
