BOSTON, Mass. – The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has announced its weekly awards and Mount Holyoke College student-athlete Cathleen Pruden was recognized. The senior garnered Swimmer of the Week honors for the second straight week, and the fourth time this season, after an outstanding effort at the Seven Sisters Championship.

Pruden, who hails from Raleigh, N.C., was the only swimmer to win four individual events at the 2016 Seven Sisters Championship, hosted by Wellesley last weekend. She had an outstanding effort to lead the Lyons, recording three meet records, a school record, three NCAA B Cuts, as well as winning the 2016 Marly Pineda Award.

A captain, Pruden won the 200-yard individual medley in a meet and NCAA B cut time of 2:05.81, and closed out the efforts on Saturday with a victory in the 400-yard individual medley in an NCAA B cut time of 4:26.35. On Sunday, Pruden won the 1650-yard freestyle in a meet and NCAA B cut time of 17:19.99, before claiming the 200-yard breaststroke title in a meet and school record time of 2:23.77.

Pruden also helped the Lyons relay teams to excellent finishes, garnering All-Seven Sisters honors in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a winning time of 1:40.60. She was also on the 400-yard medley (4:08.71) and 400-yard freestyle (3:41.13) relays that were runner-up. As a team, the Lyons were third overall at this year's event.

It marked an outstanding end to an incredible Seven Sisters career for Pruden, who recorded a combined 17 victories over four years.  Ten of those 17 victories were also Seven Sisters Championship records. She won the 400-IM and the 1650-free all four years, with three wins in the 200-IM and two wins in the 500-free, the 200-breast and the 200-free relay.

This is the fourth NEWMAC honor of the season for Pruden, who was tabbed on November 3rd following a nine-victory week. She was also honored on December 7th after posting three NCAA B Cuts, three pool records, three meet records and six wins third at the Hamilton Invitational, while garnering honors on January 19th following a six-win week to help the Lyons go 3-1.

A former standout at the Ravenscroft School, Pruden has posted 31 victories this season, including at least three wins in each meet. She is currently among the top swimmers in the nation in four different events. She ranks fifth in Division III in the 400-IM and is also seventh in the 200-IM. Additionally, Pruden is 18th in the nation in the 1650-free and 26th in the 200-breast.

Mount Holyoke is back in action on Saturday when it hosts Simmons College at 12pm in the final regular season meet of the season. The Lyons will also honor their seven seniors, including Pruden, prior to the meet.
