Swimming & Diving Finishes Well at Smith Relays

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - It was a solid day of action for the Mount Holyoke College swimming & diving team, who competed at the 2015 Smith College Relays on Saturday afternoon. The meet, which was non-scoring, saw the Lyons with 10 of the 15 events on the day.

MHC posted a victory in the 800-yard freestyle relay as the foursome of Bri Groves, Erica Carvell, Emily Craig and Cathleen Pruden, recorded a time of 8:23.33, nearly 20 seconds faster than the second-place finisher.

In the 3x100 butterfly relay, the trio of Katie Tyler, Emily Serio and Carvell grabbed first place with a time of 3:25.86. In the 3x100 breaststroke relay, Sarah Crocker, Groves and Pruden were the winners with a time of 3:39.81, while in the 200-yard sprinters medley relay, Anne Kuenning, Topaz Mukulu, Pruden and Tyler combined for the win in a time of 1:54.95.

The 200-freestyle relay saw Groves, Tyler, Carvell and Kuenning notch a victorious time of 1:48.20, while in the 400-medley relay, Delany Berry, Crocker, Groves and Craig had a time of 4:30.62 to win.

The 3x100 individual medley relay was won by Claire Beckett, Carvell and Pruden in a time of 3:22.91, while the 200-yard 4x50 butterfly relay saw Groves, Mae Rose Gott, Carvell and Tyler win in a time of 1:57.10. In the 200-yard 4x50 backstroke relay, Beckett, Crocker, Pruden and Kuenning won with a time of 2:02.59 and in the 400-free relay, Kuenning, Serio, Tyler and Pruden closed out the meet with the win in a time of 3:56.09.

Mount Holyoke returns to action next Saturday when it opens its home schedule at 1pm against the University of New England.
