WORCESTER, Mass. – It was a fabulous day on the water for the Mount Holyoke College crew team as three different boats claimed victory in races on Lake Quinsigamond. Leading the way was the first varsity eight boat, which outpaced both the University of Vermont and Clark University for the win.
The first varsity eight boat posted a time of 7:01.7, pushing past UVM (7:16.8) and Clark (7:21.2) by an impressive margin. The Lyons second varsity eight boat had a solid effort in the same race, finishing fourth with a time of 7:23.7.
MHC’s novice eight boat also had a great effort, placing first with a time of 7:23.1. That mark trumped both Clark (7:44.0) and UVM (7:52.8) by convincing margins.
Finally in the four’s race, it was MHC’s novice four boat that came out on top as the group powered their way to victory in a time of 8:21.0. The Lyons third varsity four boat also had a solid effort in the race, finishing third overall with at time of 8:28.8.
Mount Holyoke is right back in action on Sunday, heading back to Lake Quinsigamond for competition against Clark, Franklin & Marshall, UMass-Lowell and Simmons.
