CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. - Powered by first place finishes from both novice boats, the Mount Holyoke College crew team placed second among five teams at this year's Seven Sisters Regatta, hosted by Bryn Mawr College. The Lyons, who amassed 30 points on the day, finished just two points behind first-place Wellesley.
The Blue captured the title with 32 points, followed by MHC (30), Simmons (28), Smith (20) and Bryn Mawr (6).
Leading the Lyons on Sunday was the Novice eight, which posted a time of 17.59 to defeat Wellesley, Simmons, Smith and Bryn Mawr. The second novice eight boat also gained critical points, recording a mark of 19.46 to outpace Simmons and Wellesley for victory.
In the varsity race, Mount Holyoke finished fourth overall with a time of 17.43, while the second varsity eight race featured two MHC boats. The 'A' boat came in third with a time of 18.46, while the 'B' boat had a time of 19.22.
Following the races, the annual awards ceremony was held where junior captain Hannah Arbach earned All-Seven Sisters Championship recognition on Varsity for the second straight season. Additionally, junior Sarah Fleming was a Varsity All-Championship selection, while first year Briana Chace was tabbed to the All-Championship Novice Team.
The Mount Holyoke crew team concluded its fall season at today's race and will return to action in the spring.
