Lyons Gameday Central: Volleyball vs. Clark on Tuesday at 7pm

SETTING THE SCENE: Mount Holyoke College returns to conference play on Tuesday, welcoming the Cougars of Clark University. It marks the 46th all-time meeting between the two programs, dating back to the first meeting in 1976 - a 2-0 Lyons victory. Clark owns the series edge by a 28-17 margin, including wins in each of the last 13 matches.

THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (8-9; 1-6 NEWMAC) returns to South Hadley on Tuesday after splitting tri-match action at Bard on Saturday. The Lyons bested the homestanding Raptors behind a seven-kill, seven-dig and three block assist effort from junior captain Sarah Caggiano. MHC shouldered a tough 3-1 loss to New Paltz in the final match of the day. On the season, sophomore Sasha Simine leads the Lyons with 157 kills, averaging 2.66 per match. Both she and junior Jamesa Allen lead the team in blocks with 54 total. First year Brayden Walden owns the top marks in assists for the season with 309.

THE COUGARS: Clark (13-9; 4-4 NEWMAC) is back on the court following a 3-2 win over UMass-Boston on Saturday. Facing a 2-0 deficit, the Cougars came alive in the third set taking an early 9-2 lead highlighted by two service aces from Rayme Quiban and four kills by Marina Ramos. Clark went on to capture the next three sets for their 13th win of the season.  Overall, Ramos leads the Cougars in kills with 345 on the season for a 4.48 average. Juniors Ana Mercado and Rayme Quiban are the team leaders in service aces with 24 each.

UP NEXT: Mount Holyoke will be back at home on Saturday, hosting Baruch (10am) and Westfield State (2pm) in a tri-match at Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium. Clark returns to action on Saturday as well, traveling to Plymouth, N.H., for tri-match action against Western Connecticut State (2pm) and the host Panthers (4pm).
