SETTING THE SCENE: Mount Holyoke welcomes Wheaton in the battle of the Lyons for the 48th time in program history. The first time the programs met was in 1976, that saw a 2-0 victory for MHC, which was followed by 14 consecutive wins. Wheaton currently holds a 29-19 series advantage over Mount Holyoke.   

THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (2-6; 0-3 NEWMAC) comes into Saturday's match after dropping a 3-0 loss to MIT on Tuesday. Junior outside hitter Katrina Meserve led the Lyons with four kills and also had six digs while sophomore Joy Maran and Sasha Simine - both middle hitters- each notched three block assists'. Sophomore libero Cameron Graham added a match best nine digs on the night. Through eight matches, Maran leads the squad in kills with 56, while sophomore Jamesa Allen follows close behind with 55. Graham leads the defense contrubuting 81 digs on the year. Senior captain and setter Natalie Lyon sits atop the assists category with 176.

The LYONS: Wheaton (9-2; 2-0 NEWMAC) enters the match after suffering a 3-1 loss to Wellesley in conference action Tuesday night. Senior captain Stephanie Martin led the defensive effort for Wheaton finishing with 12 digs. Junior right side hitter Allison Cox and sophomore middle hitter Claire Cansler led the attack, both having nine kills. On the year, Cansler leads the team in kills with 144 while also being the front-runner in block solo's with 10. Sophomore outside hitter Cathryn MacGregor is in second with 125 kills and three block solo's.

UP NEXT: Following today's match, MHC will compete in their final game of September on the road against conference rival Wellesley at 7pm Tuesday night. Wheaton will also be on the road Tuesday, facing Rhode Island College in a non-conference affair at 7pm.
