Volleyball Picks Up NEWMAC Sportsmanship Award

BABSON PARK, Mass. (Nov. 10, 2009) – The New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) recently announced its women’s volleyball award winners for the 2009 season. After capturing the NEWMAC Tournament Championship on Saturday, Wellesley College swept all of the major individual awards as well. Senior Alice Cummings was named NEWMAC Athlete of the Year, while teammate Isabel Custodio took home NEWMAC Rookie of the Year honors. Their coach, Dorothy Webb, was tabbed as the league’s Coach of the Year. Mount Holyoke College received the NEWMAC Sportsmanship Award for the third consecutive time.

The Lyons closed out their 2009 campaign with an overall record of 4-22. They went winless in nine outings against league foes.
