Wheaton Trips Up Volleyball, 3-0

NORTON, Mass. (Oct. 13, 2009) – The Wheaton College women’s volleyball team swept New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foe Mount Holyoke College 3-0 (25-10, 25-20, 25-21) this evening at Emerson Gymnasium.

Leading the way for Wheaton (13-10, 2-4 NEWMAC) was sophomore outside hitter Miranda Howitt, who collected 11 kills. Senior middle hitter Lauren Kraus notched seven kills, while junior setter Becca Rose contributed 23 assists, eight service aces and ten digs.

First year outside hitter Morgan Cooley paced Mount Holyoke with five kills. Meanwhile, junior setter Kateryna Kuc chipped in with six assists and ten digs.

Mount Holyoke (4-14, 0-6 NEWMAC) will take the court again on Saturday, when it hosts the LEC / NEWMAC Challenge. After facing off against Keene State College at noon, the Lyons will take on Plymouth State University at 3:00 p.m
