2009 Seven Sisters Volleyball Championship

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (Oct. 10, 2009) – The Mount Holyoke College women’s volleyball team sustained a pair of losses during the first day of the 2009 Seven Sisters Championship, hosted by Smith College. After falling to Wellesley College 3-0 (25-9, 25-8, 25-8) in its first contest of the afternoon, the Lyons dropped a 3-0 (26-24, 25-17, 25-18) decision versus Bryn Mawr College.

Mount Holyoke suffered a 3-0 setback versus Wellesley in its first match of the afternoon. Sophomore middle hitter Tyler Protano-Goodwin tallied three kills, while junior setter Kateryna Kuc collected seven assists and five digs.

The Lyons then fell 3-0 to Bryn Mawr in their second and final match of the day. Kuc led the way with 15 more assists, and classmate Rosa Marruffo posted eight kills and four service aces from the outside hitter position.

Mount Holyoke (3-13, 0-5 NEWMAC) will take on non-conference foe Elms College tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. in its final match of the tournament.
