Volleyball Bounced By Springfield, 3-0

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (Oct. 6, 2009) – The Springfield College women’s volleyball team glided to a 3-0 (30-11, 30-10, 30-11) victory over Mount Holyoke College this evening in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action at Blake Arena. It was the Pride’s (18-2, 3-1 NEWMAC) 18th straight triumph over the Lyons.

Leading the way for Mount Holyoke was first year outside hitter Kathryn Brummer, who collected five kills and five digs. Junior outside hitter Rosa Marruffo posted three kills and seven digs, while classmate Kateryna Kuc accounted for ten assists and five digs from the setter position.

Mount Holyoke (3-11, 0-5 NEWMAC) is slated to participate in the Seven Sisters Championship at Smith College over the weekend. The Lyons will face off against Wellesley College at noon and Bryn Mawr College at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. They will then wrap things up against a yet to be determined opponent on Sunday.
