Volleyball Spikes Bay Path, 3-1

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (Sept. 17, 2009) – The Mount Holyoke College women’s volleyball team kicked off its 2009 home slate with a 3-1 (25-7, 25-16, 21-25, 26-24) triumph over Bay Path College this evening at the Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium. With the win, the Lyons bumped their record to 2-2 on the year. The Wildcats fell to 0-6.

Mount Holyoke was paced by first year outside hitter Morgan Cooley, who collected 12 kills. Junior setter Kateryna Kuc piled up 25 assists, while classmate Kara Neidhardt added 14 digs and six service aces.

Both squads are slated to hit the court again on Saturday. Mount Holyoke (2-2, 0-1 NEWMAC) will host Clark University for a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest beginning at 1:00 p.m. Meanwhile, Bay Path (0-6, 0-0 NECC) will face off against the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts at 3:00 p.m. and Bard at 5:00 p.m.
