Lyons Duo Competes at ITA Regionals

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (September 28, 2012) – Several individuals from the Mount Holyoke College tennis team competed at the ITA Regional Championships on Friday, hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Despite solid efforts both Lyons' competitors fell in the opening round of singles and doubles action.

Senior captain Nahrhee Han (Albertson, N.Y./Hendricks) faced a tough draw in singles action, facing off against Middlebury's LokSze Leung – the top-seeded player in this year's tournament. Leung capitalized for the 6-0, 6-1 victory.

Also competing was junior captain AnnElizabeth Konkel (Camp Hill, Pa./Harrisburg Academy), who squared off against Bowdoin's Tiffany Cheng – the ninth-seeded player in the field. Konkel battled, but fell by a 6-2, 6-2 margin.

The duo, who are Mount Holyoke's first flight doubles pair, also challenged Brandeis's Faith Broderick and Carley Cooke – the fifth-seeded team in the doubles field for the tournament, but fell by an 8-1 margin.
