  • Swimming & Diving Earns Spring Academic Accolades

    The Mount Holyoke College swimming and diving team was recently honored for its outstanding work in the classroom. The Lyons were among the 140 Division III teams from around the nation to achieve College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-American status following the 2014 spring semester.

    Led by 16th-year head coach Dave Allen, the Mount Holyoke swimming & diving team had an outstanding run in 2013-14. The Lyons posted a dual meet record of 6-4, finished second at Seven Sisters and were sixth at the NEWMAC Championships.
  • Pruden Named an Academic All-American

    Mount Holyoke College student-athlete Cathleen Pruden has been selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-America Division III Women’s At-Large Third Team. This is the first Academic All-American honor for Pruden, who was an All-District First Team selection as well.

    Mount Holyoke College student-athlete Cathleen Pruden has been selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District 1 Women's At-Large Team. With her selection, Pruden is now eligible for Capital One National Academic All-America consideration.

The Lyons were among the 121 Division III teams from around the nation to achieve College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-American status following the 2013 fall semester.

  • Pruden Finishes 19th in 1650-Free; Concludes Action at Nationals

    Mount Holyoke College student-athlete Cathleen Pruden's journey at the 2014 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships has concluded. The sophomore standout wrapped-up her experience on Saturday, competing in the grueling 1650-freestyle. The event was the third race of her time at Nationals, which also included her first All-America honor.

    Mount Holyoke College sophomore Cathleen Pruden continued to etch her name into the history books on Thursday evening, earning National All-America honors after finishing fourth in the 400-individual medley at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships. Pruden becomes the first swimmer in MHC history to finish in the top eight and the second swimmer to earn All-America honors.

    Mount Holyoke College swimmer Cathleen Pruden opened competition at the 2014 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships on Wednesday morning. The sophomore competed today in the preliminaries of the 200-individual medley, posting a lifetime-best mark in the event.
  • Cathleen Pruden Headed to Swimming Nationals

    Mount Holyoke College student-athlete Cathleen Pruden will represent the swimming team at the NCAA Division III Men’s & Women’s Swimming & Diving National Championships, which will be hosted by Franklin College at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind. This marks the first appearance in the national meet for Pruden, who becomes the first swimmer invited to Nationals since Katie Herrold ’00 during the 1996-97 season.
  • Swimming & Diving Finishes 6th at NEWMAC Championships

    In the final day of action at the NEWMAC Championships, the Mount Holyoke College swimming & diving team placed sixth overall behind a number of outstanding efforts. The Lyons saw two more school records fall on day four, including a solid performance in the 200-breaststroke by junior Maya Lazarovich.

    Record smashing continued to be the name of the game for the Mount Holyoke College swimming & diving team on Saturday as day two of the NEWMAC Championships saw another five school records fall. Championing the effort once again was sophomore Cathleen Pruden, who re-set her own NEWMAC record in the 400-IM.

    The first full day of action at the NEWMAC Championships has concluded and through 13 events, the Mount Holyoke College swimming & diving team is seventh overall. Three school records have fallen, including marks in two different relay events. Pacing the way was sophomore Cathleen Pruden, who has contributed to two of the records.

    Behind a number of outstanding efforts, the Mount Holyoke College swimming & diving team posted a 166-133 victor at Smith College on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, the Lyons move to 6-4 in dual meet action, while the Pioneers are now 4-3 overall. Leading the way for MHC was sophomore Cathleen Pruden, who posted four wins, including three individual.
  • Swimming & Diving Edged by Wellesley

    Despite a number of outstanding performances, the Mount Holyoke College swimming & diving team could not overcome Wellesley College, falling to the Blue by a 183-110 margin on Saturday. The Blue move to 4-1 in dual meet action, while the Lyons are now 5-4 overall. The meet also saw the recognition of MHC's six seniors, who were honored pre-meet.

    The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) and the Eastern College Athletic Confernece (ECAC) announced its weekly awards and Mount Holyoke College student-athlete Cathleen Pruden has been recognized. The sophomore standout was named the Swimmer of the Week by both organizations after posting four victories at last week’s Seven Sisters Championship.

    The 2014 Seven Sisters Championship concluded on Sunday at Vassar College and a number of outstanding efforts on the day helped the Mount Holyoke College swimming & diving team finish second of five teams at this year's meet. Wellesley won its 17th-straight title, capping the championship with 1,292.5 points.
  • Swimming & Diving Sits 2nd After Day 1 of Seven Sisters

    Day one of action at the 2014 Seven Sisters Championships has concluded and through the first 13 events, the Mount Holyoke College swimming & diving team sits in second place among five teams at this year’s event. The Lyons were paced on day one by an outstanding effort from sophomore Cathleen Pruden, who won three events, including two in record setting times.
  • Swimming & Diving Falls to Trinity

    Despite a number of outstanding performances, the Mount Holyoke College swimming & diving team fell to Trinity College, 130-104. Additionally, the Bantams men’s team posted a 139-54 victory over the University of Rhode Island. Trinity moves to 3-3 on the season, while the homestanding Lyons are now 5-3.
  • Swimming & Diving Powers Past Simmons

    Powered by a number of outstanding efforts, the Mount Holyoke College swimming & diving team posted a 158-128 victory at Simmons College on Saturday afternoon at the Holmes Sports Center. The dual meet victory moves the Lyons record to 5-2, while the homestanding Sharks are now 5-2 on the season.
  • Swimming & Diving Splits Tri-Meet Action

    The Mount Holyoke College swimming & diving team posted six victories on the afternoon as they split in tri-meet action against Wheaton College and Clark University. MHC fell to Wheaton by a narrow 121-110 margin, but defeated the Cougars, 167-67. The Wheaton women also defeated Clark by a 169-65 margin. The homestanding Lyons were led by three wins from sophomore Cathleen Pruden.
  • Swimming & Diving Finishes 4th at WPI's Gompei Invitational

    The Mount Holyoke College swimming & diving team exceled in the final day of action at the 2013 Gompei Invitational, finishing fourth overall. The event, which featured nine women’s teams, was hosted by Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Sophomore Cathleen Pruden led the way once again, recording multiple NCAA B Cuts in Sunday’s 400-IM competition.

    Powered by a number of solid victories, including a school record mark for sophomore Cathleen Pruden, the Mount Holyoke College swimming & diving team defeated Western Connecticut State University, 176.5-93.5 in dual meet action this afternoon. With the win, the Lyons move to 3-1 on the season.

    Sophomore Bethany Aban had three victories to help lift the Mount Holyoke College swimming & diving team to a 167-125 win over Westfield State University on Saturday at the MHC Natatorium. With the win, the Lyons move to 2-1 in dual meet action thus far, while the Owls are now 0-2 on the young season.

The sophomore standout was named the Swimmer of the Week after posting four victories in last week's defeat at Division II Assumption.

    Despite a four-victory performance from sophomore Cathleen Pruden, the Mount Holyoke College swimming & diving team could not overcome a strong effort by Assumption College, falling to the Division II Greyhounds by a 167-95 margin. The Lyons are now 1-1 in dual meet action this season, while the Hounds move to 2-0 overall.
  • Swimming & Diving Victorious in Season Opener

    Powered by a number of multiple victory performances, the Mount Holyoke College swimming & diving team opened its 2013-14 season with a 184-69 victory over the University of Saint Joseph on Saturday at the MHC Natatorium. Leading the way was sophomore Cathleen Pruden, who claimed wins in the 1000 free and the 200 back events.
  • Swimming & Diving to Offer Swimming Lessons This Fall!

    The Mount Holyoke College Swimming and Diving Team is offering lessons to children (ages 9 months to teenagers). The classes will be held at the Kendall Sports and Dance Complex and are taught by members of the Mount Holyoke Swimming & Diving Team. The lessons will begin on Wednesday, September 11th and will end on Tuesday, October 1, 2013.
