THE MATCHUP: Mount Holyoke returns home to face-off against the Golden Bears of Western New England University on Wednesday. It marks the 16th all-time meeting between the two programs, dating back to the first contest in 2002 - a 14-3 WNE victory. The Golden Bears own the series advantage by a 10-5 margin, going 3-2 over the last five games, including each of the last two.   

THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (1-2, 0-0 NEWMAC) notched its first win of 2016 last Tuesday, defeating Fitchburg State by an 11-10 margin in overtime during action in Clermont, Fla. Sophomore midfielder Leila Kouakou netted the game-winner at 4:11 of the extra session. Senior captain Julia Bell scored six goals in the contest, while classmate and fellow captain Catherine Ryan added four assists. In goal, junior Isa Rodriguez earned the win with 14 stops.

MAKING HISTORY: Lyons senior captain and attacker Catherine Ryan hit a major program milestone in the victory over Fitchburg State. She entered the game needing just three assists to become the all-time leader in Mount Holyoke history, passing Caitlin Taylor '06 (121). Ryan notched four helpers, bringing her career total to 125 and becoming the Lyons' all-time leader.

THE GOLDEN BEARS: Western New England (4-2, 0-0 CCC) posted a decisive victory over Fitchburg State on Thursday in Clermont, Fla. The Golden Bears offense saw sophomore Julia Winer produce a career-high eight points, while senior Taylor Scialdone also finished with eight points, including a game-high six goals. In goal, sophomore Shannon McFadden allowed just four goals in over 54 minutes in the cage to pick up the win.

NEXT UP: Mount Holyoke returns to action on Saturday in a 1pm contest at Skidmore. WNE is back on the field on March 29 at Salve Regina at 7pm.
