Golf Finishes Fourth at Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. (Oct. 12, 2009) – The Mount Holyoke College women’s golf team recorded a fourth place finish at the Williams College Fall Classic today. A total of ten teams and 62 individuals took part in the tournament, which was hosted by the Waubeeke Golf Links (par 70 – 5,806 yards).

Amherst College took home the team championship with a two day tally of 655 (328, 327). The Lord Jeffs were followed by Williams (659), Wellesley College (699) and Mount Holyoke (749) in the top four.

Flora Weeks of Middlebury College secured the individual title with a two day score of 155 (77, 78). She finished three strokes in front of Amherst’s Kinne Schwartz (158 – 80, 78) and five shots in front of both Anne O’Leary of Williams and Hayley Milbourn of Amherst, who finished in a deadlock for third place (163).

Mount Holyoke was paced by Alexandra Irish. The sophomore grabbed 13th place with a two round score of 169 – 85, 84). The Lyons also received solid production from junior Sarah Keating, who registered a 19th place result (175- 86, 89).

Mount Holyoke is slated to round out the fall portion of its 2009-10 slate at the Wellesley College Fall Invitational next weekend. The tournament is scheduled to begin on Saturday and run through Sunday.
