Messiah Tops Final Field Hockey Poll

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (Nov. 10, 2009) - Messiah College is the nation's top ranked team for the ninth week in a row according to the final version of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Poll (11/10/09). The Falcons earned 31 first place votes to remain atop the rankings. Salisbury University sits in the number two position for the ninth in a row. Meanwhile, Ursinus College remains in the third slot for the fourth week in a row. All three squads drew first round byes in the NCAA Division III National Tournament, which is slated to begin tomorrow. The 24 team field was released yesterday. Mount Holyoke will be hosting the NCAA Division III National Championship from November 21-22 at the Turf Field.
