Mount Holyoke Set to Host 2009 Field Hockey National Championship

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (March 21, 2009) - The NCAA Division III Field Hockey Committee recently announced that Mount Holyoke College has been selected to host the 2009 NCAA Division III Field Hockey National Championship.

“We are elated to be selected as the host site for this prestigious event,” said Mount Holyoke Director of Athletics Laurie Priest. “Our beautiful, new facility is living proof that ‘If you build it, they will come.’ We look forward to making the 2009 Championship the best ever!”

The tournament, which consists of two semifi nal matches and a championship, will take place at the Mount Holyoke Turf Field in South Hadley, Mass. After arriving on campus on Thursday, November 19, qualifying teams will participate in community service activities and attend a banquet the following day. Semifinal contests are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 21. The winners of those matches will face off in the National Championship on Sunday, November 22 at 1:00 p.m. Prior to Sunday’s title tilt, the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Senior All-Star Game will also take place at the College.
