Twenty Two Riders Garner IHSA All-Academic Award; 16 Named to First Team

Fairfield, Conn. - April 7, 2020 - Twenty two current student-athletes on the Mount Holyoke College varsity hunt seat team have been recognized for their hard work both in the Equestrian Center and the classroom, as they earned the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) National All-Academic Award, announced on March 30.

The IHSA National All-Academic Award recognizes the individual academic achievements of participating undergraduate and alumni members each year. IHSA members that obtain a GPA of 3.8 or higher were named to the All-Academic First Team, while IHSA members that produce a GPA of 3.5 or higher were selected to the All-Academic Second Team.

At Mount Holyoke College there were 15 student-athletes that earned First-Team honors for holding a grade-point average of 3.8 or higher. Those student-athletes include: Kristen Adolf (Moore, S.C.), Rachel Banister (San Diego, Calif.), Maya Brody (Weatogue, Conn.), Hanye Chen (Dachang, China), Angela Cheng (Shanghai, China), Sierra Dunn (Northampton, Mass.), Georgia Fish (Baltimore, Md.), Sara Hearn (Tallahassee, Fla.), Kristina Honour (Lake Forest, Ill.)Marina McDonald (Northampton, Mass.), Emelia McLaughlin (Portland, Maine), Sinead O'Sullivan (Worcester, Mass.)Caroline Sullivan (Groton, Mass.), Johanna Sullivan (Worcester, Mass.), Honami Tanaka (Fukuoka City, Japan), Harriet Thomson (Paddington, Australia).

Additionally, six other members of the Mount Holyoke College varsity hunt seat team were named to the All-Academic Second Team. Those student-athletes include: Anya Benson (Amherst, Mass.), Hannah Brown (Portland, Ore.), Marlene Healey (Coventry, Conn.), Libby Sams (Atlanta, Ga.), Faith Wang (Southwick, Mass.), Luhan Wang (Nanjing, China)

Winners will be recognized in the IHSA National Program, in IHSA media and receive a certificate of recognition.
