| Title: | Head Lacrosse Coach |
Elizabeth Morrison was named the 10th head coach of Mount Holyoke College Lacrosse going into the program's 50th season in the 2025-26 academic year.
"I am delighted to welcome Libby to the Mount Holyoke community as the new head coach of our lacrosse program," said Athletic Director Andrea Ricketts-Preston. "Libby is an exceptional addition whose dynamic personality, passion for lacrosse, and unwavering commitment to a holistic scholar-athlete experience make her the perfect fit for this role. Libby brings a winner's mentality, and I'm confident that she will guide our team toward future success while helping our players excel both athletically and academically."
Morrison came to Mount Holyoke from Williams College, where she was hired as assistant coach earlier this year. Morrison previously served as head coach at the University of Hartford and assistant coach at Trinity College. She was a five-time All-American student-athlete at The College of New Jersey, and the first-ever four-time IWLCA All-American.
"Mount Holyoke is getting the complete package: someone who builds strong team culture, demands excellence, and leads with authenticity," said Alix Barrale, interim head women's lacrosse coach at Williams and Williams' longtime head field hockey coach. "Libby is an outstanding coach. Her lacrosse knowledge runs deep, and she has a remarkable ability to teach the game in a way that's both detailed and inspiring. She's passionate, highly organized, and has an incredible work ethic. Her eye for talent is exceptional, and she's deeply committed to developing her players on and off the field."
"I'm really looking forward to working at an institution that has been a pioneer in women's education since its opening in 1837," said Morrison. "Mount Holyoke's commitment to educating female leaders is inspiring and goes hand in hand with how I view athletics as a developmental opportunity for young women."
Morrison had an extraordinary career as a two-sport student-athlete at TCNJ. In lacrosse, she graduated as the program's single-season and all-time record holder in ground balls, draw controls and caused turnovers. Anchoring the Division's lowest scoring defense each of her four years, she became the first — and only — player in Division III women's lacrosse history to earn four All-American honors from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). She was named Division III Defender of the Year in both 2016 and 2018. In field hockey, Morrison was named All-Conference in the NJAC in both 2016 and 2017, and captured All-American honors in 2017 after leading the Lions with 16 goals and nine assists.
Morrison began her coaching career at Trinity College, where she was assistant lacrosse and field hockey coach for three years. She moved on to the University of Hartford as it transitioned from Division I to Division III, and was the Hawks' head coach for the 2024 and 2025 seasons, while also helping the university begin an intercollegiate field hockey program.
"My coaching philosophy is to coach athletes to become their own coach, which I believe is a strong fit for a student body as driven as Mount Holyoke's," said Morrison. "I'm excited to get to know this team and develop plans so that each player can rise to be their best self, both during and outside of practice and games."
