Tennis plays competitively in home loss to Holy Cross

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- Mount Holyoke College tennis's top doubles team of junior Annika Chai and sophomore Kirat Kaur won their match at No. 1 doubles to highlight the day for the Lyons in a 7-0 loss to Division I Holy Cross played on the MHC Tennis Courts on Tuesday.

Chai (London, England) and Kaur (Mohali, India) defeated Katie Nossa and Ashley Zilora 6-0 at No. 1 doubles, but the Crusaders (1-1) won at second and third doubles to earn the team doubles point, in the Division I scoring system utilized for the match.

Chai played Zilora to a competitive 6-4, 6-4 loss at No. 1 singles, and first-year Rachel Allen (Mary Esther, Fla.) took Lindsey Riordan to a tiebreaker third set before falling 3-6, 6-3, 10-6 at No. 3 singles.

The Lyons (1-1) will host Simmons University on Saturday at 12pm.
