Cambridge, Mass. - February 22, 2020 - The Mount Holyoke College swimming and diving team competed in day three of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships, hosted at MIT's Zesiger Sport and Fitness Center on Saturday.

The Lyons currently sit in ninth place overall with a total of 183 points through three days of competition.

 Beginning the morning session with the 400 individual medley, first-year Lauren Leese (Round Rock, Texas) took 22nd overall, clocking in at 4:55.68 to become an alternate for finals. Tamara Mukulu (Nairobi, Kenya) was the Lyons' top performer in the 100 butterfly, touching the wall in 1:03.15, while in the 200 freestyle, Riley Hicks (Bow, N.H.) produced a time of 2:08.18, the best from Mount Holyoke College in the event.

First-year Erin Schrama (Taunton, Mass.) finished the 100 breaststroke just outside of the cut off for finals, clocking in at 1:14.24, while in the 100 backstroke, Anais Magner (Ohiwa, New Zealand) was just five spots outside the cut, finishing with a time of 1:02.30.

Wrapping up, the 200 medley relay team of Magner, Caitlyn Richmond (Northampton, Mass.), Naomi Brown (Bloomington, Ind.) and Mukulu finished 15th overall with a time of 1:58.89. The next grouping of Adrienne Corr (San Diego, Calif.), Schrama, Leese and Hicks was 19th with a time of 2:04.03.

In the evening session, Magner, Richmond, Brown and Mukulu combined for a time of 1:54.70 in the 200 medley relay, finishing ninth overall in the A final, while the team of Corr, Schrama, Leese and Hicks was ninth in the B final with a time of 2:00.58.

Mount Holyoke College returns to the pool on Sunday, February 23 for the final day of the 2020 NEWMAC Championships, beginning with a morning session at 10 a.m. The women's one-meter diving prelims is set to begin at 1:15 p.m.
