SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Mount Holyoke College senior goalkeeper Zoe Marshall has been selected to participate and represent the Lyons at the 2016 New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Senior Bowl, which will be held at Merrimack College on Saturday, December 3rd at 2:00 p.m.
One of six players from the NEWMAC selected, Marshall was an alternate, but is replacing one of the goaltenders who was unable to make it to the game. The senior captain will play alongside fellow NEWMAC keeper, Lauren Ullmann, who will represent MIT.
Marshall, who hails from Mississauga, Ont., was a NEWMAC All-Conference Second Team selection following a season where she led the conference with 131 saves. A captain, she posted a .840 save percentage, which was good for fourth in the NEWMAC.
In addition to a 1.53 goals against average, Marshall earned three shutouts, including one in conference action against Clark. She played 1472:22 minutes of action over 17 games, including 16 as a starter.
The Cawthra Park Secondary School graduate had three games during the year where she posted double-digit saves, including 15-save efforts against Western New England and Clark. Marshall was a recipient of the NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Week honors once this season.
In her career, Marshall appeared in 58 games, including 55 as a starter owning a 22-30-3 record. Over the course of her career, she has made 451 stops, ranking third all-time in school history. Marshall also ranks third all-time in career shutouts with 11.
Marshall was a NEWMAC All-Conference First Team honoree during her junior campaign after finishing the 2015 season with an 8-6-3 record. In addition to a 0.96 goals against average, she also posted a .894 save percentage as a starter in 18 contests. Marshall made 144 saves over 1600:09 minutes of action and also posted five shutouts on the season.
A two-time NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Week during the season, Marshall ranked first in the conference in saves, as well as tops in save percentage. Among the NEWMAC leaders, she was seventh in goals against average and eighth in fewest goals allowed.
Mount Holyoke concluded the 2016 campaign with an 8-10 overall record while going 2-8 in conference. The Lyons posted wins over Southern Vermont, Wesleyan, Western New England, Albertus Magnus, Bay Path, Clark, Wellesley and Elms during the season.
