Dartmouth Stifles Squash in Howe Cup Semifinals, 9-0

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (Feb. 27, 2010) – The 12th seeded Mount Holyoke College women’s squash team suffered a 9-0 setback to ninth seeded Dartmouth College today in the semifinal round of the 2010 College Squash Association Howe Cup National Championships at Yale University.

As a result of their second win of the year over the Lyons, the Big Green (6-8) advanced to tomorrow’s Kurtz Cup (B Division) Championship. They will face off against 10th seeded Brown University, which cruised to an 8-1 triumph over 11th seeded Bates College in today’s other semifinal tilt.

Mount Holyoke (14-8) and Bates will meet in the 11th place contest tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. In their regular season meeting on January 30, the Bobcats prevailed by a score of 6-3. The Howe Cup consists of four eight team brackets. Champions will be crowned in each of the subdivisions tomorrow.

Leading the way for Mount Holyoke were senior Laura Robinson and first year Tempest Bowden, who each went the distance in their respective matches before falling 3-2. Senior Laurian Lue Yen fell 3-1 in her contest.
