Lyons Game Day Central: Basketball vs. Green Mountain on Thursday

THE MATCHUP: Mount Holyoke welcomes the Eagles of Green Mountain for the first time in program history. This will mark the opening of the 2016-17 campaign for the Eagles, while MHC has one game under its belt.

THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (0-1) is coming off a road loss to Worcester State in its season opener. Senior captain and forward Xajaah Williams-Flores led the way, playing a game-high 36 minutes and posting nine points. She was also a force down low with two blocks. Sophomore Leah Hodges and first year Genesis DiCarlo were able to put pressure on the perimeter, notching three steals each. Hodges also led the game in rebounds with seven.

THE EAGLES: Green Mountain (0-0) enters the match following a 1-23 season a year ago. Leading the returners is sophomore captain and guard Mercedes Rideout, who averaged 9.2 points per game, and led the team in minutes played with 35.2. Sophomore guard Kali DeMarco led the team with 2.7 assists.

NEXT UP: Mount Holyoke will be on the road on Saturday where it will compete in the ACPHS Tip-Off Tournament at Albany College Pharmacy & Health Sciences. The action will begin at 3:00pm against the host Panthers. The Lyons will wrap up the week on Sunday in either the Championship or consolation match of the ACPHS Tip-off (12pm/2pm). The Eagles will have just under two weeks off before their home opener against Colby-Sawyer on November 30th at 7:30pm.
