Field Hockey Earns National Academic Honors

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (March 26, 2010) – The Mount Holyoke College women’s field hockey team was recently recognized by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) for achieving a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher. In addition, nine individual members of the team were named to the 2009 NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad.

Individual recipients were sophomore Kiki Boyles, sophomore Annie Butts, senior Katie Frick, junior Melissa Hartley, sophomore Taylor Hedges, junior Meredith Spencer-Blaetz, sophomore Madeline Starbranch, senior Peggy Wefald and sophomore Kirsti Wiemokly.

To be eligible for the award, student-athletes were required to have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 through the first semester of the 2009 academic year.
